Coming in at #8 on the 2013-14 Apprentice School Top 10 Moments countdown is a wrestling weekend in Scranton, Pa. where they took on NCAA Division III 15th-ranked Wilkes University in the Electric City Duals.
The wrestling team opened its 2013-14 season with nine straight dual match wins, including winning the Electric City Duals hosted by University of Scranton for the fourth time in the last five years. In that run of six wins at Scranton, the Builders took on NCAA Division III 15th-ranked Wilkes University.
The Colonels entered the match on a 26-match winning streak that dated back almost a full calendar year. Apprentice School opened that dual winning the first four matches, with Sterling Briscoe winning by fall at 141 in 1:38 to help push the Builders to a 15-0 lead after 149.
Wilkes responded by winning the next four matches with three of those being by fall to take a 21-15 lead after 184 when Alex Pullen won by fall in 4:50.
Sophomore Josh Rodriguez helped get the Builders trailing 21-18 after his 6-4 win by decision at 197 pounds. Apprentice School heavyweight Ian Jones then got a win by forfeit as the Builders knocked off Wilkes 24-21 to snap a 26-match winning streak for the Colonels.
The Builders followed that match with another 24-21 win against the host Royals to finish the weekend 6-0 in Scranton, Pa.
