NEWPORT NEWS, VA. -- Junior Adam Blackmon went
2-for-4 driving in a run while Rob Arredondo drove in another with
a single as Apprentice School fell to Bloomsburg University 6-3 in
the opening game of the Builder Baseball Invitational at War
Memorial Stadium.
A two-run single by Brian Sperling started the
scoring for Bloomsburg (1-0) in the third inning. Apprentice
School answered back with two in the bottom of the fifth on a
single by Arredondo and scored a run on an errant throw to force
Darrell Taylor at second allowing Blackmon to score.
The Huskies then broke it open with four runs
in the top of the sixth inning. Using RBI singles from Tim
Kelleher, Joe Pesci, Jeremy Arner and a groundout from David
Manter to plate the four runs. Apprentice School got one back in
the bottom of the inning on Blackmon's single scoring Travis Cobb
who doubled a batter previous.
The tournament continues today with four games
starting at 9 a.m. Apprentice School takes on Kutztown University
at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
