HAMPTON, VA. - Sophomore Jonathan Dehoux went 5-for-5 with four
RBI and picked up the victory in relief for the Apprentice School
as they knocked off Kutztown University 11-10 in day two of the
Builder Invitational at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
Kutztown entered the tournament ranked 25th in the
pre-season NCAA Division II poll.
The Builders scored five runs in the second with Dehoux driving
in a pair on a single and added three more in the fourth to take an
8-3 lead on RBI singles from Dehoux, Kyle Center and a sacrifice
fly from J.D. Drewry.
The Golden Bears answered with two in the seventh and three in
the eighth to tie the game 8-all. Apprentice School pushed
three across in its half of the eighth on a RBI double from Dehoux
and a two-run single from Dory Fields.
Dehoux pitched 1.2 innings to earn the victory and struck out
three in the ninth ending the game on a strikeout with the tying
run at second base.
