Builders fall 13-10 in ten innings to Spalding University

 

HAMPTON, VA. - Visiting Spalding University scored three runs in the top of the tenth inning as the Golden Eagles defeated Apprentice School 13-10 in ten innings on Friday in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association matchup at War Memorial Stadium.

Eric Polk was 2-for-4 and drove in three runs, while Dory Fields and Kyle Center had two hits apiece for the Builders.  Apprentice School trailed 5-0 into the bottom of the fourth before scoring four in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh to take a 10-7 advantage.  Spalding answered with a pair in the eighth and one in the ninth before their tenth inning explosion.

These teams will face each other tomorrow at noon to close out this two-game set.  Apprentice School will also face Penn State-Greater Allegheny in a single game at 3 pm.
