Alan Riley named USCAA Baseball Player of the Week

Apprentice School senior Alan Riley was named the USCAA Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending March 16.

The Newport News native went 10-for-25 in a six-game week that began for him by driving in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth in a 10-9 Apprentice School win over Division II Indiana University-Pennsylvania on Friday. On Saturday he earned his first collegiate victory in his first pitching appearance throwing eight innings allowing seven hits and striking out five as the Builders defeated Maritime College 6-5 in 11 innings. The next day he went a career-best 4-for-5 with three runs scored and a pair of doubles as the Builders lost 11-8 to IU-P.

The Builders return home for a five-games in four day stretch beginning on Saturday with a 12:30 pm doubleheader with Tufts University.
