Builders Complete 3-game Sweep With 21-5 Over Fulton-Montgomery

HAMPTON, VA. - Junior Kyle Center went 4-for-4 with two doubles and drove in five runs as the Apprentice School completed a three-game sweep of Fulton-Montgomery College with a 21-5 win on Tuesday afternoon.  The game was stopped after 6 1/2 innings due to the 10-run rule.

The Builders cut an early deficit to 3-2 after sophomore James Denny started the bottom of the first with a double and junior J.D. Drewry was hit by a pitch.  Both runners stole a base and scored on Center's first double of the day.

Following a two-run third for Fulton-Montgomery, the Builders broke loose scoring eight runs in the third inning with Drewry getting a two-run double and a bases-clearing double from Center.  Drewry went 1-for-1 on the day getting hit by a pitch twice and a walk while driving in three runs and scoring two.

The hitting power kept going in the fifth as the Builders scored five runs with freshman Dory Fields tripling in a pair and sophomore Kenny Eanes doubling in one.  Junior Eric Polk and senior Alan Riley also singled in a run apiece to put the Builders ahead 15-5 after five complete innings.

In the sixth, the Builders put the finishing touches on the game scoring six runs as freshman Robert Goodwin singled in a pair of runs, while Riley singled in another and Travis Franklin drove in one by being hit by a pitch.

Eanes went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored while Goodwin, Fields and Riley each had two hits to help the Builders who had 19 hits in the contest.  Sophomore Aaron Penny won his third decision of the year throwing five innings and striking out nine.
