HAMPTON, VA. - Visiting Rappahannock Community College scored
five runs in the third inning, on the benefit of four Apprentice
School errors, and never looked back in defeating the Builders 13-4
on Thursday.
Matthew Brown went 3-for-6 with three RBIs for Rappahannock
(22-3) while five other Gulls had a pair of hits apiece.
The Apprentice School (20-18) started the game with a bang as
junior J.D. Drewry smashed his first home run of the season over
the right-field fence. But the Builders' defense failed them
on Thursday committing a season-high seven errors.
Sophomore Jonathan Dehoux, junior Kyle Center, senior Alan Riley
and junior Eric Polk had a pair of hits each for the
Builders. Center drove in three runs with a pair of doubles
while Dehoux and Drewry scored a pair apiece.
The Builders close out the regular season with a pair of games
against Chowan University beginning on Tuesday night at 5 pm at War
Memorial Stadium. These teams will then play again on
Wednesday, April 30 in Murfreesboro, NC at 3 pm.
