Baseball Builders Open Invitational With 6-0 Win Over Bloomsburg
BUILDER INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
HAMPTON, VA, -- Seniors Kyle Center, Jonathan Dehoux and sophomore Dory Fields had three hits apiece as the Apprentice School opened the Builder Invitational with a 6-0 win over Bloomsburg University on Thursday night.
Apprentice School (3-0) opened the scoring in the first inning as Center smashed his first home run of the season to left-centerfield. Senior Bryce Beale drove in the second run scoring Dehoux on a groundout.
In the fifth inning, the Builders broke it open scoring three times. After one out, Center singled and scored as Dehoux hit his second home run of the year clearing the wall in right-centerfield. Fields followed with a double and scored on a double by Beale.
In the eighth, after one out the Builders scored the final run as senior J.D. Drewry doubled down the right field line. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored as Center singled up the middle past a drawn-in infield.
Junior Dallas Wagner earned his second win on the season throwing six innings, allowing three hits and striking out five. Sophomore Austin Leftwich threw the last three innings and struck out two while allowing one hit. Center, Dehoux and Beale each drove in a pair of runs in the victory.
The Builders will play Kutztown University on Friday afternoon at noon in day two of the Builder Invitational.
