Dehoux Named USCAA Player Of The Week

Apprentice School junior first baseman Jonathan Dehoux was named on Tuesday as the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending February 22.

The Mathews, Va. native and maintenance electrician apprentice was 13-for-24 and drove in 14 runs in the Builder Invitational last week to earn All-Tournament honors.

He set an Apprentice School record driving in 10 runs in a 22-11 victory over NCAA Division II Lock Haven University on Saturday.  In that game he was 5-for-6  with a three-run home run in the fourth inning and followed that with a grand slam in the fifth as the Builders exploded for 22 runs.

His five hits matches his career-high set against Kutztown in the 2008 Builder Invitational, while his two home runs ties a school mark that he also shares after a two-home run performance against Robert Morris-Springfield in the 2008 USCAA Nationals.

Next up for the baseball team will be a home weekend starting on Friday with a 2 pm single game against Rappahannock CC.  The next two days they'll face USCAA opponent Penn State Abington in single games starting at 1 pm on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
