Builders Run Streak To Eight With 18-1 Win Over Fulton-Montgomery

HAMPTON, VA. - Sophomore Andrew Yonta went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and fellow sophomore Dory Fields went 2-for-3 with four RBIs as the Apprentice School swept a three-game series with Fulton-Montgomery CC (NY) with an 18-1 victory on Tuesday at War Memorial Stadium.

            After giving up a run in the first, the Builders scored a pair of runs in the third as Eric Polk singled in Kenny Eanes who started the inning with a walk.  Polk later scored on a run scoring double from winning pitcher Jonathan Dehoux.

            The Builders broke the game wide open with a 12-run fourth inning highlighted by a grand slam home run from Fields, followed by a run-scoring single from Kyle Center and then a three-run shot from Yonta.   Center and Yonta started the inning with doubles and J.D. Drewry had a run scoring single and a run scoring triple in the 12-run outburst.

            Apprentice School sealed the game with four more runs in the sixth inning as Yonta drew a bases-loaded walk to start it off.  Freshman Ryan Collins singled in Fields with a run, while freshman Dawson Langhorne drew a bases loaded walk and Polk closed the scoring with a run-scoring single for the 18-1 win.

            Dehoux earned his first victory of the year throwing five innings and allowing two hits and one run.  Junior William Johnson pitched the last two innings striking out four.  Seven Builders had two or more hits with three of those having three hits.  Polk went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBIs, Dehoux was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Yonta's 3-for-4 day with a career-high five RBIs.

            Apprentice School now will host St. Vincent's College in a three-game series starting with a 1 pm doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 at War Memorial Stadium.
