HOLBROOK, N.Y.-Senior Bryce Beale went 4-for-5 with two RBIs while junior Dallas Wagner pitched a season-best two-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Apprentice School defeated Briarcliffe 10-0 in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association matchup on Saturday.
Beale grounded out in his first at-bat and had singles the rest of the day driving in runs in the third and fourth innings. Wagner earned his ninth win of the season in 11 decisions as he struck out seven and allowed a one out single in the fourth to Andrew Raschen and a sixth inning single to Dan Rodriguez.
The Builders scored a run in the second on a Dory Fields single scoring Andrew Yonta. In the third they added two on a RBI single from Beale and a bases loaded walk to Yonta. The next inning they broke the game open with four runs as two scored on errors, one on a sacrifice fly from Eric Polk and one on a Ryan Wagner single. Polk singled in a run in the fifth followed by a two-run single from Jonathan Dehoux for a 10-0 lead.
Polk, Dehoux, Center and Fields all had two hits for the Builders who had 15 hits in the contest. Dehoux, Polk and Beale all drove in two runs apiece.
The teams will close out its two-game series on Sunday morning with an 11 am single-game at the Police Athletic League Complex.
