Dehoux Drives In 9 Runs As Baseball Sweeps Briarcliffe 18-4

HOLBROOK, NY - Junior Jonathan Dehoux drove in nine runs on the day going 4-for-6 as the Apprentice School defeated Briarcliffe College 18-4 to close out a two-game series in Holbrook, N.Y. on Sunday.

The Mathews native drove in a pair of runs with a single in the third and followed the next inning with a two-run home run.  In a nine-run sixth inning, Dehoux drove in two with a double early in the inning and ended the inning clearing the bases with a three-run double. The nine RBI day helped Dehoux break the single season RBI record he set last season as he drove in 51.  He now has 52 RBIs in 30 games.

Kyle Center and Eric Polk chipped in with three hits each as the Builders out-hit the Seahawks 19-7.  Center drove in three runs and scored twice with a solo home run in the fourth inning.  Polk scored four times and had a double.

Sophomore Austen Leftwich won his third decision throwing seven innings allowing five hits.  Fellow sophomore Coire Barnitz closed out the game with two innings of scoreless relief.

Next up for the Builders will be a Thursday matchup with Virginia Wesleyan College starting at 4 pm at War Memorial Stadium.
