Baseball Second In USCAA Coaches Poll - Dehoux Earns Second Player Of The Week Honor
The Apprentice School baseball team earned two honors on Tuesday in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
Junior Jonathan Dehoux garnered his second Player Of The Week honor after a week where he hit 11-of-17 (.624) with six runs scored, 12 RBIs, three doubles and a home run. Dehoux, a junior from Mathews, went 6-for-10 with 11 RBIs in a two-game series at USCAA rival Briarcliffe College in New York over last weekend. He was 4-for-6 with three runs, two doubles, one home run and nine RBIs in Sunday's 18-4 win. Dehoux earned USCAA Player Of The Week honors in late February when he drove in a school record 10 runs against Lock Haven University in the Builder Invitational. He broke the school single season RBI record in Sunday's win - and has 10 regular season games left on the schedule.
The team also earned a honor on Tuesday as the latest USCAA Coaches Poll was released and the Builders have moved up from third to second nationally. The Builders (21-9), winners of 14 of their last 15 games, have a busy couple days starting on Thursday as cross-water rival Virginia Wesleyan College comes to War Memorial Stadium for a 4 pm single game. On Friday, Briarcliffe will face the Builders in an 11 am doubleheader also at War Memorial Stadium.
