HAMPTON, VA. - Senior Bryce Beale went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs, while fellow senior Kyle Center was 2-for-3 and scored twice as the Apprentice School split a doubleheader with U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association rival Briarcliffe College winning the nightcap 4-2 on Friday.

In the opener, junior Jonathan Dehoux was 2-for-4 and Center was 2-for-3 with a run as the Builders fell 5-4.

Sophomore Ryan Wagner followed that by setting a school single season record - he was hit by a pitch for the 11th time this season breaking a mark held by Center in his freshman season of 2006.

The Builders put up an insurance run in the fourth as senior J.D. Drewry hit his first home run of the season with a smash to right-center field.

Briarcliffe scored a run in the sixth as Andrew Raschen singled in Mike Locrotondo for a 4-2 deficit.  Sophomore Coire Barnitz came in after that hit and got a fly out and a double play to end a potential threat.

Freshman Daniel Lutz earned his third victory of the season throwing five innings and striking out six.  Barnitz got his first save of the year with his two innings of scoreless relief.

In the opener, the Builders gave up a run in the second and answered with three in its half as junior Kenny Eanes doubled in junior Chris Baker.  One run scored on an error while another scored on a wild pitch to give Apprentice School a 3-1 lead.

The Seahawks answered with three in its half of the third on RBI singles from Dave Darcy, Dan Rodriguez and a RBI groundout from Steve Shea.

Apprentice School got one back to tie it in the fourth as senior Eric Polk reached on a throwing error to allow Eanes to score.  Briarcliffe got that run back in the sixth as Tim Coglietta grounded out to score Reggie Smith for the 5-4 final.

Tabb Griffey took the loss in game one throwing five innings and allowing five runs for Apprentice School (22-11).
