Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Danville CC
DANVILLE, VA. – On the day the Apprentice School baseball team held onto its number one ranking in the USCAA, they split a doubleheader with Danville Community College falling 11-1 in the opener and winning 18-6 in the nightcap.
Game two saw the Builders explode for 20 hits as Jonathan Dehoux
was 4-for-5 with four runs scored while Chris Baker went 3-for-5
with four RBIs and freshman Ryan Collins went 3-for-4 with five
RBIs.
The Builders scored five in the first and put six more on the board in the second as Baker doubled in two runs and Collins cleared the bases with a double driving in three. Dallas Wagner earned his tenth win on the year throwing 4.2 innings and allowing three runs.
In game one, the Builders scratched a run in the third as Eric Polk singled and advanced to third on a J.D. Drewry double. Polk scored on a sacrifice fly from Kyle Center. Apprentice School had three hits in the contest as Tabb Griffey took the loss dropping his record to 2-3.
Earlier in the day the USCAA Baseball Coaches Poll was released as the Builders held onto the top spot in the national rankings with St. Catherine’s, Kentucky still in second.
