Baseball Falls 10-6 To Chowan

HAMPTON, VA. - Senior J.D. Drewry went 3-for-5, while fellow senior Kyle Center went 2-for-5 on Thursday as the Apprentice School lost 10-6 to Chowan University at War Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

The Builders scored a run in the first inning on an RBI groundout from junior Jonathan DeHoux, but gave up four in the second with single runs added in the fourth and fifth as they fell behind 6-1.  In the fifth, Dehoux blasted his ninth home run of the season to dead centerfield to cut the deficit to 6-3.

Chowan (23-14) pushed another run across in the top of the sixth and both teams scored three times in the ninth inning for the final 10-6 score.

DeHoux drove in four runs on the day for the Builders who out-hit Chowan 11-9.  Austen Leftwich was the losing pitcher for Apprentice School (24-13) throwing five inning and allowing five hits and six runs. Jordan Whitlatch and Matt Crane had two hits apiece for the Hawks while Whitlatch drove in three runs.

The Builders return to action on Wednesday as they host Rappahannock CC at 4 pm for Senior Day at War Memorial Stadium.
