Baseball Earns Top Seed For 2010 USCAA National Tournament

The Apprentice School baseball team earned the number one seed for the 2010 U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships to be held May 10-13 at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
In the ten-team event, the Builders (24-13) will open action on Monday at 1:30 pm against the winner of the 8:30 am game between eighth-seeded Clark State CC (Oh.) and ninth-seeded NHTI-Concord's Community College. This marks the second year in a row that the Builders have been the top-seed and the 11th straight season they've competed in the national tournament.
Apprentice School enters the tournament having won its last five in a row and six of its last seven games. Last weekend they went to New York and took a three-game series from USCAA opponents Briarcliffe College (10-4 and 9-1) and St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn (16-8). In that weekend series, the Builders set school records for team home runs in a game (4 vs. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn), double plays turned in a game (6 vs. Briarcliffe) and senior Jonathan Dehoux broke the single season home run record with a pair against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn to set the standard with 13.
