Baseball Ends Regular Season With 22-0 Senior Night Win
HAMPTON, VA. – The Apprentice School baseball team celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday with a 22-0 victory over Thomas Nelson CC at War Memorial Stadium.
Sophomores Chris Aldridge and Zach Harding were 3-for-4 apiece, while junior Chris Scarola and sophomore Chris Perry had a pair of hits each as the Builders scored five or more runs in four of five innings. Harding drove in four runs, while senior Andrew Hooper drove in three. Senior Travis Franklin, freshmen Ryan Hendrickson and Lee Rossi along with Perry drove in a pair of runs. Rossi's two RBI were on a home run which scored Chris Davis who singled.
Senior Daniel Lutz earned his fifth win on the year throwing 3.2 innings allowing five hits and striking out three. Fellow senior Will Miller threw the next two innings and allowing two hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Robert Perez, Jordan Kelley and Jordan Roby had two hits each to lead Thomas Nelson (6-11).
Prior to the game, the four seniors were recognized along with head coach Bryan Cave who received a special plaque honoring his 500th career win earlier this season.
USCAA SMALL COLLEGE WORLD SERIES GAMETIMES SET
The Apprentice School learned its game times for the 2012 U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series in Springfield, Illinois starting Monday, May 7.
The Builders, who are the second-seed in the 10-team event, will play the last game of the day on Monday at 9 pm CST against the winner of the 4 pm game between seventh-seeded Penn State Beaver and 10th-seeded Robert Morris-Springfield who is the host team of the event.
A win for the Builders will put them into a 4 pm semifinal on Tuesday, while a loss on Monday night will put them into a 9 pm elimination bracket game on Tuesday night.
