IN BRIEF: Damin Muth was 2-for-4 with three RBI for Bloomsburg as the Huskies defeated the Apprentice School 9-1 for third place in the Builder Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
ON THE FIELD: Bloomsburg scored a run in the first inning on a Muth single to score Brad Smith. In the fifth, the Huskies erupted for five runs as Tim Kurucz drove in one with a single and Muth drove in a pair with one.
The Builders were without a hit until two outs in the fifth inning as freshman Thomas Dudley beat out an infield single with two outs.
Apprentice School scratched a run across in the eighth inning on a pair of hits. With one out, Chris Aldridge beat out a bunt single and went to second on a Jordan Cowles single. After a strikeout and a walk to Brian Belvin, the Builders scored on a balk to plate Aldridge.
Bloomsburg put three more on the board in the top of the ninth with two coming on run-scoring singles from Joey Casselberry and Brad Smith to lead 9-1.
- Aldridge was 2-for-4 with a run scored as he had two of the six hits on the game for the Builders.
- Sophomore Kyle Clark took the loss throwing 5.1 innings with four hits, four runs scored and two strikeouts.
- Four Huskies had two hits each in aid of Matt Jaskolka who threw six innings with three hits allowed and four strikeouts for the win.
