The fourth annual Apprentice School Alumni Baseball game came down to the final outs Tuesday night as the current Builders held on for a 5-4 victory at War Memorial Stadium.
Leading hitter for the current squad was freshman Adam Baldwin who had two hits and drove in two runs. One of those was a triple in the second inning to tie the game at 1-all. Senior Sam Massie pitched the last two innings to earn the win as the Builders scored two runs in the sixth to take a 5-2 lead.
J.D. Drewry drove in a pair of runs with two hits to lead the alumni squad. They took advantage of an error in the top of the seventh to plate two runs to cut the deficit to 5-4. Massie was able to force a ground ball to first to end the game with the tying run at third base.
The Builders will close out their fall schedule on Friday afternoon hosting College of the Albemarle at 3 pm at War Memorial Stadium.
