Apprentice School junior infielder Mark Labrador was recognized by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association as its Hitter of the Week for the week ending March 8. The award recognized all games played thus far this season.
The junior from Casselberry, FL., opened the season with a smash going 16-for-27 (.593) with 14 runs scored, two doubles, a triple, a home run and drove in 10 runs as the Builders went 6-3. In last weekend's six-game swing at Vero Beach, the pipefitter apprentice took it to another level going 13-for-20 (.650) to lead the team as they went 4-2. On the final day against Bridgewater State University and University of Miami Ohio-Hamilton he was a combined 6-for-8 with seven RBIs in a pair of wins.
The Builders return home tomorrow to start a homestand with a doubleheader against Penn State Mont Alto starting at 1 pm.
