Apprentice School Picked Fourth in 2007 ACFC Pre-Season Coaches Poll
NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - The Apprentice School, coming off its best season in almost 20 years in 2006 with a 7-3 record, was pre-season picked fourth by the football coaches in the Atlantic Central Football Conference poll announced Tuesday.
The Builders, returning 16 starters including eight on offense, finished 2-2 in the ACFC last season to end in a tie for second place with Salisbury University.
Wesley College, who has made the national semifinals in each of the last two years, was a unanimous choice to make it three titles in a row. Salisbury University garnered the other first-place vote as coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. The last three spots were separated by a point piece as SUNY Brockport was picked third, followed by The Apprentice School and Frostburg State.
September 1 is the opening weekend for the 2007 season, and the Builders will host Fairmont State College (WV) at 1 p.m.
