Apprentice School Game Notes vs. Chowan

Builders end 2007 season with 58th annual Oyster Bowl

The Apprentice School faces longtime rival Chowan University in their last meeting as Chowan will enter the CIAA in 2008. ... These teams met in the 57th annual Oyster Bowl last year with Apprentice School gaining a 37-0 victory. ... In that contest the Builders gained 384 yards of total offense (188 rushing, 196 passing) while holding Chowan to 127 (87 rushing, 40 passing). ... Dating back to 1984, the Hawks lead the series 12-11-1 with Apprentice School winning four of the last five. ... Senior WR Travis Reid broke the school single season receiving yards record last week against SUNY Brockport with his 73 yards on three receptions.  He has a chance for 1,000 yards for the season if he gets 121.  If he does, he'll become the first player in the 87-year history of Apprentice School football to get to that mark. ... With 35 points on Saturday, the Builders will average 25.6 points per game which will be the highest scoring average in the last 22 years.

BUILDERS DON'T LIKE TURNOVERS

Not referring to the dessert style, but this year the Apprentice School has been very stingy with the ball thus far having only turned the ball over three times (one interception and two fumbles). ... The one interception and two fumbles are the lowest totals among Division III-level teams along with the three total turnovers.
