Apprentice School sophomore kicker Matt Edelen was named on
Monday as the Atlantic Central Football Conference Special Teams
Player of the Week for his efforts in Saturday's 61-55 four
overtime loss to Division II Chowan in the 58th annual Oyster Bowl.
Edelen, from Upper Marlboro, Md. and an electrician apprentice,
was a perfect 7-for-7 on extra-point attempts and averaged 53 yards
per kickoff in the Oyster Bowl. The 7-for-7 is a single-game record
and helped him finish the season converting 31-of-34 (91.2%) of his
extra-point attempts for a school record. The 31 extra-point
attempts made this year was also a school single-season record.
Earning honor roll honors this week were Travis Reid (offense),
Quentin Forbes (defense) and Desmond Isaac (special teams).
