Apprentice School senior wide receiver Travis Reid and senior
defensive back Quentin Forbes were named on Wednesday to the
All-State Division II-III football teams by the Virginia Sports
Information Directors Association. Reid was a first-team
selection, while Forbes earned second-team honors.
From Goose Creek, S.C. and an electrician apprentice, Reid finished
his career by rewriting the record books for Builder
receivers. He holds school records for single game receptions
(12 vs. Chowan), single season receptions (71), single season
touchdowns (13) and became the first ever 1,000-yard receiver
finishing with 1,049 yards. Reid also holds the career
records for receptions (169), yards (2,895) and touchdowns (33).
In the Atlantic Central Football Conference, he topped the
league in receptions per game (7.1), yards per game (104.9 which
broke the ACFC record), all-purpose yards (129.6) and was tied for
the lead in scoring (7.8 points per game).
Forbes, from Chesapeake, Va. and a rigger apprentice, was the
second leading tackler on the
team with 64. He returned an interception for a touchdown
against Chowan University in the season finale and was second on
the team in pass deflections (6), pass breakups (4) and tackles for
a loss (9.5).
