Reid and Gladden named to All-State College Division teams by Roanoke Times
More post-season honors were given to Apprentice School football players on Saturday as the Roanoke Times announced its All-State College Division teams. These teams encompassed NCAA Division II, III and NAIA ranks.
Senior wide receiver Travis Reid earned first team wide
receiver honors from the Roanoke Times. The senior from
Goose Creek, S.C. became the first Apprentice School player earlier
this off-season to be named Atlantic Central Football Conference
Offensive Player of the Year en route to his second straight
All-ACFC first-team selection after a season for the record
books. He was the first Apprentice School player in the
87-year history of football at the school to catch over 1,000 yards
in passes as he finished with 1,049. Reid set school career
records for catches (169), yards (2.895) and touchdowns (33).
His 104.9 yards per game average broke the ACFC record for a single
season.
Another honoree was center Jonathon Gladden who was a second
team selection. The Charlotte, N.C. native only missed
one game in his four-year career after coming from Independence
High School where his teams never lost in his four years.
Gladden was recently named to the First Team Academic All-District
III team by the College Sports Information Directors Association
for the second straight year.
