Norwood, Ellis, Mason Named To VASID All-State College Division Football Teams

The Apprentice School football team earned three individual honors on Thursday as senior Teo Ellis and freshmen Louis Norwood and Thomas Mason were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association All-State College Division teams.

Also for the first time in the history of the program, they also earned one of the individual honors as Norwood was named the College Division Rookie Of The Year.

The Builders had a pair of first team selections in Norwood at defensive back and Ellis at tight end, while Mason snared a second team honor at punter.  Those two first-team selections were the first time the Builders had two on the first team since 2005.

Norwood was a first team selection at defensive back to go with his first team All-ACFC defensive back selection and ACFC Rookie Of The Year honor last month.  The native of Baker, La., he tied the school single-season interception record with six to go along with eight pass breakups and three blocked kicks.  He picked off a pair of passes and broke up two others at Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham in September.

Ellis was a first team tight end selection to go with his first team All-ACFC tight end selection from last month.  The Camden, SC native tied for second on the team with 24 receptions for 359 yards and one touchdown.  He ended his career with his first 100-yard receiving effort catching five passes for 109 yards against Southern Virginia.

Mason snared a second team All-State Specialist punter honor to go with his earlier first team All-ACFC selection.  The native of Disputanta, Va. set a school record averaging 42.3 yards per punt this year which included a long of 63 yards against Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham in September.  He also was a field goal kicker for parts of the year hitting the second longest field goal in school history, nailing a 44-yarder against Malone in the season opener.
