Football Hosts Gallaudet On Shipyard Family Day
The Apprentice School football team returns to the home field on Saturday to face Gallaudet University in a 1 pm kickoff. This marks the first meeting with Gallaudet since 2002 when the Builders won 23-5 in Washington, D.C.
- The Builders have played one other school from the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference - New York Maritime and have a 2-0 record against them. Apprentice School leads the all-time series 12-1 with Gallaudet.
- The next two games for the Builders will put them against members of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (at Bridgewater on October 1 and hosting Catholic on October 15).
- Chris Virgin's 128 yards in last week's win over Greensboro made him the sixth running back since Michael Vite became head coach in 2008 to go over 100 yards in a game and the first since Sam Arnold did against Southern Virginia to end the 2009 season.
- Blake Penix's 32 yard field goal against Greensboro last week was the longest field goal by the Builders since Nick Foor hit a 37-yard field goal, ironically, against Greensboro in 2010 for a Builders 9-7 win.
