Football Starts Four-Game Homestand Hosting Catholic
The football team returns to the home field for a four-game homestand starting on Saturday as they host the Cardinals of Catholic University in a 1 pm kickoff.
Last year these teams met in Washington, D.C. on September 11 in a 42-32 wild affair that Catholic held onto for the win. The Builders scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to get back into the contest.
Catholic enters the game 3-2 after falling 51-34 to Randolph-Macon on October 7. The Cardinals are averaging almost 33 points per game and over 414 yards per game of offense. Junior quarterback Greg Cordivari is completing 62% of his passes for 1,726 yards and 14 touchdowns in five games. Alonzo Cooke has been his favorite target catching 32 passes for 500 yards and five touchdowns.
The Builders enter off their bye week with a 1-4 record falling 57-13 to Bridgewater College on October 1. Junior Chris Virgin ran for 100 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore quarterback Paul Morgan threw for 94 yards and a touchdown while running for 78 yards in the loss.
