Three Apprentice School football seniors will have one extra-game in their seasons this weekend as they were selected to participate in the D3Senior Classic All-Star game to be held on Friday night in Salem, Va.
Linebackers Brock Bullock and Izhia Roundtree along with safety Marlon Lane will participate in the game on Friday night held at the site of the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship game – Salem Stadium.
Bullock, an electrician apprentice from Stafford, VA., topped the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association in tackles with 142 en route to winning first team All-USCAA honors. He set school single-game (24 v. Southern Virginia), season (142) and career (307) tackle records. He was a finalist last week for the Lanier Award presented to the top non-NCAA Division I player in Virginia by the Touchdown Club of Richmond and the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Lane, a maintenance electrician apprentice from Birmingham, AL., made his mark in the record books as a ballhawking defensive back. He ended his career ranked in the all-time top ten in fumble returns (1st/4), punt return and interception return for TD (T2nd/1) and passes defended (3rd/31). He was a first team All-USCAA honoree.
Roundtree, an insulator apprentice from Vidalia, GA., had a standout season as he was second on the team in tackles with 91 and had 15 for a loss. He had a season high 15 tackles against NCAA Division III Tournament qualifier Gallaudet University and had three sacks to go with five tackles for a loss against Coppin State University.
