Apprentice School senior punter Blake Penix was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending November 1 after the Builders defeated Alfred State 39-34.
Penix, an electrician apprentice from Jesup, GA., averaged over 38 yards per punt in tricky winds Saturday that gusted in times over 25 miles per hour. He placed two punts inside the 20 yardline including one at the nine in a key fourth quarter spot. Penix also handled the kickoff duties and averaged almost 60 yards per kick with two touchbacks.
This marked the second time this year that Penix was honored by the USCAA as Special Teams Player of the Week.
The Builders close out the home schedule this Saturday at 1 pm when they host Webber International University on Senior Day.
