Apprentice School sophomore quarterback Brenden O'Neil has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for the week ending on October 20th.
O'Neil, an electrician apprentice from Virginia Beach, Va., helped lead the Builders to a 44-13 victory over USCAA member Alfred State College. O'Neil rushed for 131 yards on 16 carries, averaging 8.2 yards per carry, and got into the endzone twice. His first touchdown came on a 60-yard run that tied the game at 7-7 early in the first quarter. The second score came on a 5-yard run late in the second quarter and gave the Apprentice School a 20-7 lead that it would take into halftime.
The Builders travel to Bluefield, Va. this Saturday for a 1 p.m. against Bluefield College. Bluefield is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' (NAIA) Mid-South Conference and won the only other meeting between the two programs, a 46-24 decision on September 13, 2014.
