Baseball

  • The Builders went 3-0 in the week sweeping a series from Fulton-Montgomery CC on Monday and Tuesday.
  • The 48 runs scored in the three-game set were the most scored in a three-game stretch since 2005 when the Builders rang up 44 in a three-game stretch (30 in a doubleheader sweep of Columbia Union and 14 in a win over Virginia State).
  • Junior Kyle Center went 7-for-8 in the three game series (.875) with a pair of doubles, a pair of triples, seven RBI and eight runs scored.  His on-base percentage (.900) and slugging percentage (1.625) also topped the team for the week.
  • Freshman Dory Fields went 5-for-7 in the three-game series (.714) with a double, triple, seven RBI and scored five runs.
  • Senior Alan Riley and sophomore Kenny Eanes were next inline with .556 averages for the week (5-for-9) as each scored six runs, each had a double while Riley drove in six runs and Eanes drove in four.
  • Senior Joe Tugwell and sophomores Jonathan Dehoux and Aaron Penny each picked up wins in the week.  Tugwell and Dehoux allowed four hits apiece while Tugwell struck out five and Dehoux struck out six.  Penny allowed seven hits in his five innings and struck out nine.
  • This week the Builders face local rival Rappahannock CC on Monday in a 2 pm single game before heading to Monaca, Pa. for the Penn State Beaver/USCAA Invitational this weekend.  In that event the Builders will face Rochester College of Michigan on Saturday and Penn State Greater Allegheny on Sunday followed by a 4 pm matchup against host Penn State Beaver.
  • All-time the Builders are 1-0 against Rochester College having defeated them 13-2 in the 2005 USCAA Nationals. They are also 1-0 against Penn State Beaver as the Builders defeated the Nittany Lions 4-3 in last year's USCAA Nationals.  Earlier this season the Builders took three games from Penn State Greater Allegheny.  The Builders hold a 25-4 advantage over Rappahannock CC.
