Builders fall 35-14 at Emory & Henry
The football team had their first road game of the season on Saturday and fell 35-14 at Emory & Henry. Kyle Franklin connected with Travis Reid on a 35-yard scoring pass with 8:29 left in the first quarter and Joe Bruce returned a blocked punt 41 yards for the final score. Tony Scott blocked the punt, the 11th of his career, with 11:58 left in the game.
Reid caught seven passes for 67 yards which gave him 2,002 receiving yards for his career. He is the second Builder in the modern-era to gain over 2,000 yards in receptions. Franako Smith had an interception on Emory & Henry's first possession to tie Scott for the career interception record with 11.
This week the Builders travel to 19th-ranked Salisbury University for an ACFC matchup with the Sea Gulls.
GOLF
Builders tie for eighth at Tom Kinder Memorial
The golf team finished tied for eighth out of 13 teams in the Tom Kinder Memorial Tournament hosted by Birdgewater College over the weekend. The host team won the event with a 597 score, followed by Randolph-Macon (604) and Lynchburg College (607).
Senior BJ Maben was the low man for the Builders with a two-day total of 151 for a tie for eighth place. Junior Chris Everett was the next lowest at 157 to tie for 21st.
This Friday the Builders will host their fall invitational with Shenandoah University and Southern Virginia University participating at The Woodlands in Hampton.
