Builders fall 93-70 on the road to Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. - Sophomore Jason Arrington continued his strong opening to the season with 22 points and six steals, while juniors Eric Joe and Fred Spratley added 10 points apiece as Apprentice School lost 93-70 on Monday night to Division II Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C.

The host Patriots opened the game blistering the nets to the tune of 58.1% shooting from the field (18-of-31) while the Builders were not to that level hitting 10-of-29 from the floor (34.5%).   A 24-5 run midway through the first half gave the Patriots a 29-12 advantage at the 8:38 mark on a pair of Sam Smith free throws.

The Builders trimmed the margin to eight points on three occasions in the second half, the final time at 56-48 on a pair of Arrington free throws with 16:12 remaining.  However, FMU answered with a 16-4 run that produced a 72-52 advantage.  Smith contributed eight points to the spurt, including the first five.

Apprentice School now returns home to face a pair of opponents from the USA South Athletic Conference starting with Methodist University on Saturday at 2 pm and then Averett University on Sunday also at 2 pm.
