MIAMI SHORES, FLA. - The Apprentice School men's basketball team
finished its Florida swing with three wins in four games after
rallying from an 11-point first half deficit for a 60-59 victory
over Goucher College on Wednesday in the Cruizin Classic at Barry
University.
Goucher started the game hitting 8-of-10 from the floor en route
to a 24-13 advantage on a Cameron Brown layup with 7:47 left in the
first half. Apprentice School closed the half outscoring the
Gophers 19-7 with a Jason Smith jumper giving the Builders a
halftime lead of 32-31. The Builders held Goucher scoreless
over the last 3:14 of the first half.
In a second half that saw six ties, the Builders took the lead
for good on an Eric Joe jumper with 2:46 left for a 56-54
advantage. A 3-pointer from Darrin Boswell at the final
buzzer put the final score at 60-59.
Junior Eric Ruffin scored 14 points while sophomore Eric Joe
added 13 for Apprentice School (9-6) who will next see action on
January 2 at Greensboro College.
