Men's Basketball Knocks Off Philander Smith 94-76

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. - Sophomore Isaih Harrison scored a career-high 35 points to pace four players in double figures for the Apprentice School as they defeated Philander Smith College 94-76 in the final day of the Geese Ausbie Classic on Saturday.

The Builders shot a blistering 63.3% from the floor (38-of-60) which is the highest since they hit a school record 66.7% from the floor against Voorhees College on February 21, 2007.  Harrison's 35 points topped his prior high of 31 points against Florida Memorial on December 19 and is the highest by a men's player since Termaine Totten went for 39 against Southern Virginia on February 14, 2007.

Apprentice School held a lead throughout the contest as the Builders raced out to a 51-34 halftime advantage.  They hit 20-of-30 from the floor (66.7%) en route to the halftime lead.  In the second half they cooled slightly to an even 60% from the floor (18-of-30) to outscore the hosts 43-42.  The Builders held a 38-27 advantage on the boards with Tim Johnson hauling in a game-high 11 boards as the Little Rock native was playing against his father's team as James Johnson coaches Philander Smith.

Senior Eric Joe scored 19 points, while freshman Tevin Andrews added 14 points and sophomore Andre Henderson scored 11 for the Builders (8-6).  DaMarkus Lipscomb topped the hosts with 23 points and seven assists.

Apprentice School will now participate in the B.C. Powder Classic at North Carolina Central University on Friday night as they'll face NCAA Division II rival Chowan University at 5:30 pm.  The next night they'll take on the NCAA Division I host Eagles at 8 pm.
