Men's Road Swing Concludes With Visit To Barber-Scotia

The Apprentice School men's basketball team will return to action on Sunday afternoon in Concord, NC against U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association member Barber-Scotia College to close out a six-game road swing.

Apprentice School enters the game with a 7-5 mark after falling 86-74 on Tuesday night at NCAA Division II Virginia State University.  Senior Tevin Andrews leads the team in scoring (19.8 ppg), rebounds (8.8 rpg), steals (30) and is third in field goal percentage (50.5%). Sophomore Lavontae Thomas is second in scoring (9.9 ppg) and leads the team with 67 assists.

Barber-Scotia is currently 2-12 and will play at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday before taking on the Builders.  They lost 76-63 on Tuesday night when they hosted Fayetteville State University.  Lee Sweeney topped the hosts in scoring with 13 points, followed by LaKeith Scott (12) and Jabraile Newkirk with 10.

This is the first of two meetings in just over a month between the teams as Barber-Scotia will face the Builders on the opening night of the 2013 Martin Luther King Classic on January 18.  Apprentice School leads the all-time series 4-1 having won both games last year.

Apprentice School returns to the home hardwood on Thursday, December 20 for a 5 pm start against NAIA member Fisher College from outside of Boston, Mass.
