Six tournaments including a matchup against a College Basketball Hall of Fame Coach highlight the 2014-15 Apprentice School Men's Basketball schedule announced today by Head Men's Basketball Coach Franklin Chatman.
The Builders have seven home dates this season, while playing in six tournaments including hosting the 5th annual Martin Luther King Classic when the men will take on United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) members Florida National University and Williamson Trade on January 16-18, 2015.
November will see the men participate in three tournaments as they'll open the season on the weekend of November 7-8 when they'll participate in the Penn State Greater Allegheny Classic and will face University of Pittsburgh-Titusville and Kent State Tuscarawas. The next weekend they'll go across the water to the Virginia Wesleyan College Tipoff and face Delaware Valley College on November 15. Depending on that result they'll face either The College of New Jersey or the host Marlins the next afternoon.
Following that tournament, the men will have three straight games against members of the NCAA Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. A trip to Raleigh, N.C. for a first-ever meeting against Shaw University on November 23 will proceed a trip to Elizabeth City, NC for the ECSU Thanksgiving Classic and games against Fayetteville State and Elizabeth City State.
December will see the men have one home game against NCAA Division II University of District of Columbia on the 6th at 2 pm. The next weekend they'll be in West Palm Beach, Florida to participate in the Northwood University Classic and will take on the hosts in the 7pm game on December 12. Northwood is coached by Rollie Massimino who coached the 1985 NCAA Champion Villanova Wildcats to their infamous upset over Georgetown for the title. He was inducted into the National College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. The next day they'll face Florida National University at 5 pm.
The month will close with the first of two trips to New York as they'll participate in the Berkeley College Classic to be held at the Borough of Manhattan CC. On December 20, the men will take on USCAA member Vaughn College at noon and then will take on Berkeley at 10 am on December 21.
January will open with the second trip to New York as they'll face St. Joseph's College Brooklyn on January 10 in the new Hill Center on the campus of St. Joseph's College Brooklyn. The next day they'll travel to Dunmore, PA to face Penn State Worthington Scranton at noon.
Following the MLK Classic, the men will have a doubleheader weekend when they'll face USCAA members Barber-Scotia College (Jan. 24/6 pm) and Central Penn College (Jan. 25/2 pm). January will end with a pair of road games at Mid-Atlantic Christian University (Jan. 27/8 pm) and Washington Adventist University (Jan. 31/7 pm).
In February, the men will host Mid-Atlantic Christian (Feb. 11/6 pm) and Washington Adventist University (Feb. 15/2 pm) with the game against WAU serving as Senior Day. They'll have rematches at Barber-Scotia College (Feb. 14/3 pm) and Williamson Trade (Feb. 22/1 pm) with a road trip to former USCAA member Southern Virginia University on February 19 in between.
The ultimate goal for the men's team will be another return trip to the USCAA Men's Division I National Championships to be held again in Uniontown, PA. on March 4-7.
