Golf team opens spring slate falling to Pitt CC in dual match

GREENVILLE, NC -- The Apprentice School golf team opened its spring season on Monday by falling in a dual match to Pitt Community College 295-311 at a cold, damp Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C.

Senior BJ Maben was the low scorer for the Builders with an even-par 71 to share medalist honors with Derek Joyner from Pitt.  Maben birdied the 18th hole to earn a share of the medalist honors.

"To open with a 311 is a good showing for us," said Apprentice School coach John Maxey.  "We just ran into a powerhouse Pitt squad who all shot very well." Chris Everett was the next in line for the Builders with a 77.

Next up for the Builders will be the Marlin Invitational hosted by Virginia Wesleyan College on March 1-2 at Virginia Beach National.
