Three Golfers Named To USCAA All-Academic Team

Three Apprentice School golfers were named on Tuesday to the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic team at the conclusion of the 2013 USCAA Nationals in State College, Pa.

Juniors Eric Johnston and Kyle Mutter along with sophomore Forrest Barefoot were recognized on the 22-person honor team.  To be recognized as a member of the USCAA All-Academic team, you have to have at least a 3.5 grade point average and be at least a sophomore in eligibility.

Mutter, who finished tenth in the tournament to earn USCAA Second Team All-American honors, is a repeat member of the All-Academic squad.  He is a coating specialist apprentice from Portsmouth, Va.  Johnston is a junior machinist apprentice from Williamsburg, Va. who finished  tied for 51st at nationals while Barefoot is a sophomore welder apprentice from Yorktown, Va. who shot a 96 on the final day.

The Builders return to action this weekend in Winchester, Va. at the Virginia State Golf Association Division III Championships on Sunday and Monday.
