Lady Builders season ends with 64-48 loss at UDC


WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Freshman Tyisha Battle scored 19 points and senior Tyechia Cooke hauled in a team-high 10 rebounds as the Apprentice School lost its season finale 64-48 at University of District of Columbia on Monday night.

Apprentice School (10-12) opened the game outscoring the Firebirds 9-2 in the first 3:24 capped by a Natasha Jones 3-pointer.  The hosts then went on an 8-2 run of its own to take a 17-11 advantage on a Deyisha Williams 3-pointer with 12:14 left.  UDC (18-7) never trailed from that point. 

The Lady Builders (10-12) shot 19-of-54 from the floor (35.2%) and freshman Valleri West was next in line scoring with eight points.  UDC shot 21-of-62 from the floor (33.8%) and was paced by Nicole Cooper with 13 points and seven rebounds and Lillian McGill who recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds.  The Firebirds held a 34-25 advantage at halftime.
