Lady Builders Open With 72-39 Win Over Pitt-Titusville
MONACA, PA. - Junior Tyisha Battle scored 21 points and hauled in 15 rebounds as the Apprentice School raced out to a 40-21 halftime lead en route to a 72-39 victory over Pitt-Titusville in the first round of the Penn State Beaver/USCAA Tipoff Tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Builders will play for the championship tomorrow at 2 pm against the winner of the late game on Saturday between the host Penn State Beaver and NHTI, Concord's CC. If it's the hosts, it will be a rematch of a first-round USCAA National Championship tournament game last March that Penn State Beaver defeated the Lady Builders on a 30-foot bank shot at the buzzer.
Senior Shameka Warren was next in scoring on Saturday with 10 points and eight rebounds, while five other Lady Builders scored between six and eight points as all 11 players played and scored. The Apprentice School controlled the boards outrebounding the Panthers 59-28, including a 33-10 advantage on the offensive boards.
