Lady Builders Fall 74-55 At Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Sophomore LaTorya Grimes scored 16 points and hauled in 11 rebounds as the Apprentice School lost to Methodist University 74-55 in the first game of the Methodist Turkey Shootout at the Riddle Center.

Methodist jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first five minutes and held an 18-7 lead with 11:48 left on a Michaela Myers jumper.  From there, the Lady Builders went on a 17-6 run over the next 7:08 to tie the game at 24-all on a steal and layup from Candice Kelley with 4:40 left.  The hosts then closed the half on a 14-2 run for a 38-26 lead at the break capped off on a pair of Dawn Sanderson free throws with four seconds left.

In the second half the Lady Builders cut the deficit to nine with 13:18 left on a steal and layup from Ashley Johnson for a 46-37 score.  Methodist promptly went on an 11-2 run to go up 57-39 on an Adriana Wilson 3-pointer with 10:17 left.  The lead never got under 13 points from there.

The Lady Builders close out their games in the shootout on Saturday afternoon with a 4:30 tipoff against cross-water rival Virginia Wesleyan College.
