The weekend brings plenty of Apprentice School athletic action as the wrestling team ventures to Florida, the men go across the water to Virginia Wesleyan while the women host the annual Great Ships Classic.
The Builders head south to the land of Disney – Orlando, Florida – to participate in a weekend at the University of Central Florida.
On Friday night, the Knights Brawl Duals will take place with the Builders facing the University of North Florida at 6 pm and perennial powerhouse Marion Military Institute at approximately 7:30 pm. Saturday morning the team will participate in the UCF Open starting at 10 am.
Last weekend the Builders took second place at the Electric City Duals hosted by the University of Scranton where they went 3-1. They opened the dual season the night before by defeating Penn College of Technology.
Men's Basketball (2-0)
The men's basketball team will travel across the water to Virginia Wesleyan College where they'll participate in the Marlin Tipoff this weekend at the Jane Batten Center. Tonight, the Builders will start the tournament at 5:30 pm against Cabrini College. Cabrini, the 2012 NCAA Division III National Runner-up, enters the game ranked tenth in the pre-season d3hoops.com top 25. These teams have played twice with Cabrini winning both games in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.
On Saturday, the Builders will face either St. Vincent's College or the host Virginia Wesleyan Marlins depending on the results of Friday night's games. They'll play at either 2:00 (lose Friday night) or 4:00 pm (win Friday night) on Saturday.
Women's Basketball (0-2)
The Lady Builders hit the home floor for the annual Great Ships Classic this weekend as they'll face Penn State Fayette tonight at 8 pm. In the 6pm opener, Southern Virginia University will take on Bennett College.
On Saturday, Southern Virginia will face Penn State Fayette at 1 pm, while the Lady Builders end the classic with Bennett College at 3 pm.
This will be the openers for Southern Virginia and Penn State Fayette, while Bennett went 0-2 last weekend at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Tipoff Classic.
