Former Lady Builder Head Coach Judi Overbey Named To Averett University Athletic Hall Of Fame

Former Apprentice School Women's Basketball Head Coach Judi Overbey was honored last weekend by being inducted into the Averett University Athletic Hall of Fame in Danville.

Overbey, who coached for 11 years with the Lady Builders including six as head coach, was a huge part of both national championship teams as an assistant coach in 2000-01 and in her first season as head coach in 2001-02.  Her first year as head coach saw the Lady Builders score a pair of road wins over NCAA Division II opponents and win their second United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship by defeating Mount Aloysius College 61-55 in Auburn, Maine.

At Averett, she played basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball for the Cougars where she earned then All-Dixie Conference honors in basketball, soccer and Dixie Conference Player of the Year honors in softball through her playing days.  She still holds the school single-game and career 3-point percentage marks in basketball and is in the top ten on the program's all-time scoring list.

The Apprentice School Athletic Department congratulates Judi Overbey on her induction into the Averett University Athletic Hall of Fame.
