Builders take third in NCWA Nationals

GARLAND, TEXAS - Senior Micah Amrozowicz closed out his collegiate career with a second-place finish at 133 pounds as the Apprentice School took third place in the 2007 National Collegiate Wrestling Association Nationals at the Garland Special Events Center.

The team finished third with 107 points out of 67 teams in the 10th annual event. The Builders edged out Northampton Community College by three points for third place.

Amrozowicz (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam), lost a tough 10-9 decision to Joe Mendez of eventual team champion Grand Valley State University for the title to finish the year 39-10 and his two-year career with a record of 84-18. He won his first match by pin before rolling three straight decisions to advance to the finals.

Cecil Lee (Portsmouth, Va./Churchland) took third at heavyweight for the second straight year to become the third three-time All-American in school history. He joins Ron Vecchione and Jovon Butler as the only three-time honorees. He went 4-1 in the event to finish the year 21-9.

Freshman Jeremiah Jones (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg) went 4-2 at 141 pounds to finish in fourth place. The Petersburg, Va. native finished the year with a 25-20 record.

Junior Eric Lybarger went 4-2 at 174 pounds to finish fifth for his second All-American honor. The Indiana native finished the year 21-11 and has a 59-31 record after three years.

Freshman Kevin Hill (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith)went 4-3 in the tournament and finished sixth at 125 pounds. He scored two wins by pin on Friday and had two wins in the consolation rounds. The Chesapeake native finished the year 22-22.

Junior Justin Gilliard (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run) went 4-2 in the tournament to finish seventh at 184 pounds for his second straight All-American honor. He finished the year with a 24-24 record.

Freshman Matt Perry (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith) also went 4-2 to finish seventh at 149 pounds. The Chesapeake native finished his first season 30-26.
