Wrestling team falls 42-7 at Division II UNC Pembroke

PEMBROKE, N.C. - Senior Justin Gilliard and freshman Charles Robinson earned victories for the Apprentice School on Wednesday night as they lost at Division II UNC Pembroke 42-7.

Gilliard, a Virginia Beach native, earned his team-best 26th victory on the season recording an 8-6 victory at 165 pounds over John Henry Clemmer.  The shipfitter apprentice now sports a 14-4 record in dual matches to lead the team in that category and has won seven of his last eight bouts.

Robinson, a Mechanicsville, Va. native took a 10-0 victory at 184 pounds over Justin McIntire to raise his record to 20-9 on the season.  A welder apprentice, Robinson has won five of his last six bouts.

Apprentice School (8-10) will end its regular season on Saturday night at home with a double-dual match starting at 6:30 pm.  The Builders will first wrestle Washington & Lee University and then face Longwood University.
