Builders split tri-match to close regular season


NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - The Apprentice School wrestling team split a pair of matches on Saturday night falling 27-9 to Washington & Lee University and defeating Longwood University 45-3.

In the opener, seniors Eric Lybarger and Kendall Ridenour earned the victories for the Builders.  Lybarger scored a 6-2 victory at 174 pounds over Robert Terrin which raised his record to 26-11.  Ridenour recorded a fall at 197 pounds in 1:55 over John Christopher which was his first win by fall this season. 

The final match of the night saw the Builders score victories at 141 pounds (Adam Welch in a 7-6 decision), 149 pounds (Josh Flint by fall in 3:40), 157 pounds (Austen Damico by fall in 4:08) and 174 pounds (Daniel Hare by fall in 47 seconds) along with four wins by forfeit.

Next up for the Builders will be the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Mid-Atlantic Conference Championships on March 1 at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
