BALTIMORE, MD. -- The Apprentice School wrestling team won the
2008 National Collegiate Wrestling Association Mid-Atlantic
Conference title on Saturday scoring 200.5 points en route to the
team title at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Six wrestlers won their weight classes and 12 qualified for the
NCWA Nationals on March 13-15 in Lakeland, Florida.
Senior Eric Lybarger earned the "Champion of Champions" award
winning a loaded 174-pound weight class that contained three NCWA
All-Americans from last season. He went 3-0 on the day.
Other weight class winners (with records) included:
125 - Kevin Hill (2-0)
133 - Adam Welch (3-0)
141 - Josh Flint (3-0)
165 - Justin Gilliard (3-0)
184 - Charles Robinson (2-0)
Three Builders earned second place finishes
149 - Matt Perry (2-1)
157 - Austen Damico (2-1)
184 - Thad Lloyd (1-1)
Senior Kendall Ridenour took third place at 197 with a 2-1
record, while Jeff Jiron took fourth at 125 and Josh Seal took
fourth at 285 pounds.
Apprentice School head coach Bruce Shumaker earned NCWA
Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year honors.
